He shares this passion with his daughters, making time for camping and off-road trips that create lasting memories. For Todd, outdoor adventures are a way to escape the everyday and bond with his kids, teaching them the joy of exploration and the beauty of nature.
Introduce yourself and tell us about what you do for work and/or fun?
My name is Todd and I’m the Rhino-rack NZ Country Manager, I am really enjoying been part of this company. I always enjoy a bit of a detour through the back country or an off road track, so naturally I love how this role takes me all over the country!
How do you Make Space For Adventure while being a Father? What changes have you made to your activities after becoming a Father?
I have 2 wonderful girls, I try my best to get them out for a camping weekend or taking them with me on day trip to find a great spot with a view, keeps the kids interested in the outdoors and hopefully shows them there is always time for a bit of adventure.
Tell us about an adventure you’ve taken your kids on?
Everyone has different ideas of what adventure is, as a family, we love getting to different camping grounds. We try to do this as often as we can during the school holidays. The kids love it and they make the most of the social aspect with other kids at the camp grounds.
Why is continuing to be adventurous with your kids important to you?
For me, its one of the best ways to escape busy adult life. Wherever you take the kids, its like your seeing the place for the first time all over again.
What essential gear do you carry? How does Rhino-Rack fit into your adventure - what gear has helped? Any packing or gear tips for other Fathers?
Rhino-rack awning for the essential shade, roof racks to carry the gear and a recently added the rhino-rack hardshell roof top tent to ute. By the time you read this, it already would have been used! If hitting the beach, make sure you have Maxtrax or Tred recovery boards aswell!
What message do you want to share with Fathers this Father’s Day?
It doesn’t matter what you do with the kids, just spend time with them and that is what they will remember the most!
How do you balance your role as a Father with other aspects of your life, such as work or personal hobbies?
Include the kids, get them along for the ride, ask them what they want to do to help and teach them about the work you do, they love hearing all about it.
